Challenge: Cable business requires sales orders to be grouped by including various factors like raw material used, drum in which they are delivered etc. Also netting system that determines the stock should work on basis of length instead of discrete numbers as in case of discrete manufacturing.
Solution: Planning was restructured to explode level by level determining the grouping algorithm for each item. Also provide with a detail cockpit to view and regroup orders manually by the planner. To resolve the netting adopt 1d cutting optimization and FIFO based netting methodologies.
Leverage: As a heart of the entire cable solution the planning engine distinguished the product from its competitors like SAP,Infor. It was a huge value add and feather in the cap for the vertical solution.
