Business challenge: Every cable has numerous features that uniquely define its characteristics. However if this characters set them as different items then we will end up in a millions of item. These characteristics will be defined and determined at different levels in the supply chain and maintaining it in the system to understand the product is imminent.
Solution:A flexible feature that allows to setup any number of characteristics of any datatype (int,string,Enum) was created. The entire inventory can be searched on these characteristics not limiting there these can be modified at order stage based on the customer preference and transferred to production and used at multiple levels of production in release, picking and quality testing.
Leverage:Earlier to Ax2012 such a feature was downside of Ax as the competition had a strong support. This feature that was developed by us took as in balance with them for cable like industries
